Temerian Special Forces

Next week I'm headed to Germany for the first time in years! I'm going to explore Rothenburg, Nürnberg and Heidelberg, and I'm also going to be meeting up with my friend Rick [https://thegrumpygnome.home.blog/]. I'm pretty excited!

Rick has planned a special coop game of Frostgrave for us to play, and I decided to finish off my Temerian Special Forces warband for the occasion. I already had the infantry painted from years ago, but I wanted them to look a bit more specifically Temerian, so I needed to add some lilies.

I got some decals from Schieldschmie - a site which has a huge number of transfers available for various miniature ranges. I found a set which contained the fleur-de-lis over a blue border, and featured a ship motif too. I thought this would be suitable for a lightly armoured guerrilla force which is used to travelling behind enemy lines. Like with the Blue Stripes in the Witcher 2, I figured my Temerian Special Forces would have a ship for transport along the many rivers of the Northern Kingdoms.

The transfers I picked.

I also decided that I needed to get a new wizard & apprentice for the warband so that it fit better with the regular Frostgrave rules. I have lots of wizard models already (some might say too many!), but a lot of them are the classic Gandalf-looking wizard with big beards, big hats, and billowing robes. I didn't think that look suited the nature of guerrilla warfare, so I looked around for some other wizards that looked a little better suited for warfare and mobility.

I eventually decided upon a Reaper model from their classic Dark Heaven Legends range for my main Wizard.

I also had a look on Otherworld Miniatures (incredibly detailed and well-cast classic fantasy miniatures) and came across a model I thought would work perfectly for my Apprentice.

I sprayed them in Citadel Wraithbone, then set about painting them in similar colours to the rest of my Temerian Special Forces.

Undercoated and ready to paint!

I spent a good chunk of the weekend painting these guys, alongside my partner Laura who was painting her Frostgrave warband - a group of non-human terrorists known as the Scoia'tael!

Some of Laura's Scoia'tael insurgents

From what I understand Rick's scenario will be a cooperative one, so our warbands will have to put aside their differences to combat a greater threat, although I'm sure there will be political tensions!

I haven't come up with any names for my characters yet. I'd also like to come up with a name for the group in particular. I have a few days off this week though so I should have some time to come up with some fun backstory!
